VCU recruiting physicians for NIH-funded study
6 May 2010
Virginia Commonwealth University’s (VCU) Department of Social and Behavioral Health is recruiting primary care physicians practicing in Virginia for a National Institutes of Health (NIH) physician communication study. Participants will complete a consent form, a short demographic inventory and will participate in two unannounced simulated patient visits that are audio-recorded. Participants will provide VCU researchers with a copy of clinical notes on the simulated patients’ visits and complete a five-minute post-visit survey to evaluate the simulated patient encounters.
Participating practices will be compensated for their time by receiving $200.00 per simulated visit, and each physician will receive $50.00 for the completion of the post-study survey. Individualized feedback on patient communication styles will be available to participants.
