Gov. McDonnell taps MSV members to lead key state agencies

On April 19, Gov. Bob McDonnell announced additional appointments to his administration in the Health and Human Resources secretariat, led by William A. Hazel Jr., M.D.

The governor appointed MSV member Dianne Reynolds-Cane, M.D. as director of the Department of Health Professions and MSV member Karen Remley, M.D. was reappointed as state health commissioner. MSV was pleased to support these appointments and congratulates Drs. Reynolds-Cane and Remley.

I agree that Dr. Remley did a fine job and deserves re-appointment. I hope the governor will include private practice physician in the administrative team. They have a unique perspective and a different set of challenges that they face.

Excellent decision to re-appoint Dr. Remley! Karen did a superb job as State Health commissioner under Gov. Kaine and deserves to stay on under Gov. McDonnell (without politics playing a role).
