Former MSV president appointed to AMA advisory committee

The Medical Society of Virginia's (MSV) Immediate Past President Thomas W. Eppes Jr., M.D. was recently appointed to the American Medical Association’s (AMA) Group Practice Advisory Committee. MSV nominated Dr. Eppes to this position based on his exemplary leadership and experience in growing a medical group from a small office to a multi-site practice with a diverse service line. “Dr. Eppes’ experience as a leader in his practice, president of MSV, service in the Virginia Academy of Family Physicians, and community engagement have allowed him to understand the concerns and opportunities facing group practices across the commonwealth—insight that we believe will be very valuable on the AMA’s Advisory Committee on Group Practice Physicians,” said MSV Executive Vice President Rufus Phillips.
The Advisory Committee on Group Practice Physicians advises the AMA Board of Trustees on policy matters relating to group and faculty practices. The committee consists of representatives from 11 group and faculty practices throughout the United States. The committee meets two times each year to discuss policy matters and activities that bear directly on group and faculty practice plan physicians.
