CMS issues "stop work" order for Palmetto

Recently, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) awarded Palmetto the A/B Medicare Administrative Contract as fiscal agent of Jurisdiction 11 (North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia). CIGNA issued a protest and CMS has issued a "stop work" order to Palmetto. The U.S. Government Accountability Office received the protest yesterday and has until Sept. 9 to issue a ruling. It is possible that a decision could be reached before that date, but the time for resolution is uncertain. Please continue using Trailblazers until further notice.
